ABOUT
ABOUT
Amber Johnston is an emerging artist living and working on Wangal Land, Sydney. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art in 2023 from the National Art School and works with a variety of media including sculpture, fibre-art and painting.
Through her art practice Amber explores the concepts of self-awareness, inner peace and human connections to people and to the world we live in. She uses sculpture to convey the dialectical relationship between mindfully creating art and the desperate need to address society's flaws such as superficiality, materialism and environmental ignorance. She salvages litter to use in her art to reduce rubbish and clean up what others leave behind.
Recipient of the Bowral Sculpture Prize 2024.
